Morbidelli T802: a new 799 cc adventure twin, in three versions for three ways of riding

Nov 3, 2026
Milan, 3 November 2026. Morbidelli today unveiled the T802 family at EICMA (Hall 6, Stand D20): a new mid-size adventure motorcycle with a 799 cc inline twin, built on one platform and offered in three versions. The T802X is made for the road and long journeys, two-up and with luggage. The T802XR is for riders who leave the asphalt for gravel and dirt tracks. The T802XR RALLY, the most off-road of the three, adds suspension travel and ground clearance for going where the track ends.

All three share the engine, frame, electronics, cockpit and connected features. What changes is what decides where a motorcycle can go: wheels, tyres, suspension travel, ground clearance, brakes and seat.

Key facts

  • Engine: 799 cc inline twin, liquid-cooled, DOHC, 8 valves, 75° crankshaft, two balance shafts. 94.5 CV (69.5 kW) at 9,000 rpm, 80 N·m at 7,500 rpm. Six speeds, slipper clutch, bidirectional quickshifter.
  • Weight without fuel: 189 kg (T802X), 186 kg (T802XR), 187 kg (T802XR RALLY).
  • Dimensions and capacity: seat height 830, 850 and 875 mm (X, XR, RALLY); ground clearance 206, 245 and 270 mm; fuel tank 20.5 litres; maximum load 190 kg.
  • Technology: Bosch electronics with cornering ABS, cornering traction control, anti-wheelie and three riding modes; blind-spot radar, DashCam and SOS button; Morbidelli app with Google navigation and 4G anti-theft, with the first year of connectivity included.
  • Supplied with every T802: crash bars and engine guard; the T802X also comes with the centre stand.
  • Approvals: a 35 kW A2 version is also planned. Euro 5+ type approval is in progress.

Why three versions
Not every adventure rider rides the same way. Most travel on asphalt, two-up and with luggage. Many leave the road every weekend for gravel and dirt tracks. A few want to go where the track ends. One motorcycle for all of them would be a compromise for each of them.

So Morbidelli built one platform and gave it three characters.

T802X: road and touring. Spoked tubeless wheels, 19" at the front and 17" at the rear, with Metzeler Tourance radial tyres (110/80 R19 and 150/70 R17). Twin 298 mm floating front discs with four-piston calipers. 210 mm of suspension travel at both ends, 206 mm of ground clearance and an 830 mm seat, the lowest of the three. It comes with a two-up seat, a low front fender and the centre stand as standard: the adventure motorcycle for long days on the road, with a passenger and luggage.

T802XR: on and off road. 21" and 18" spoked tubeless wheels with Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tyres (90/90-21 and 150/70 R18) and twin 320 mm front discs. It keeps the X's 210 mm of travel, with 245 mm of ground clearance, an 850 mm seat and a high front fender that keeps mud and stones clear. The same comfort and the same two-up seat as the X, ready for gravel. The centre stand is optional.

T802XR RALLY: further, off road. The same wheels, tyres and brakes as the XR, with longer suspension: 233 mm at the front and 230 mm at the rear, and 270 mm of ground clearance. A single, flat rally seat with tank grip lets the rider move freely along the bike when riding standing up. Seat height: 875 mm.

A new inline twin, with the sound of a V-twin
At the heart of every T802 is a new 799 cc inline twin (88.0 × 65.7 mm bore and stroke, 13:1 compression ratio). It is liquid-cooled, with double overhead camshafts and eight valves, Bosch electronic fuel injection and a ride-by-wire throttle.

Its 75° crankshaft, with the two crank throws set 75° apart, is rare in an inline twin. It gives the exhaust a deep, full sound close to that of a V-twin, and power that arrives in a straight line, up to 94.5 CV (69.5 kW) at 9,000 rpm, with 80 N·m at 7,500 rpm.
  • Two balance shafts keep it smooth over long days in the saddle.
  • The engine weighs 52 kg net, without oil.
  • The six-speed gearbox has a slipper clutch, which keeps the rear wheel steady on hard downshifts, and a bidirectional quickshifter, for changing up and down without the clutch.
  • Final drive is by chain.

A chassis made to travel, on and off the road
All three versions share a diamond frame and a double-sided aluminium swingarm. At the front, a KYB 48 mm upside-down fork, adjustable in preload and damping. At the rear, a Pro-link monoshock with adjustable rebound and compression damping and tool-free preload adjustment, so the rider can set it up for a passenger and luggage at the roadside. A steering damper is standard.

The spoked wheels are tubeless on every version, so a puncture can be repaired on the spot, without removing the wheel. At the rear, a 240 mm disc with a single-piston caliper. Maximum load is 190 kg on all three.

Electronics that know the lean angle
The electronics are by Bosch and work as one system. The MM7.10 inertial measurement unit (IMU) measures lean angle, acceleration and braking, while sensors on both wheels give the speed of each one. With that data, the MSE 9.0 engine control unit runs cornering traction control, which cuts power as soon as the rear wheel starts to slip, and anti-wheelie, which keeps the front wheel down under hard acceleration. The dual-channel ABS adapts braking to the lean angle: that is cornering ABS, which lets the rider brake hard even when leaned over in a corner.

Three riding modes change the throttle response and how the electronics step in. They are the same on all three versions:
  • Road (default): a linear, progressive throttle, with early traction control, anti-wheelie active and cornering ABS always on. For every day and every journey.
  • Sport: a more direct throttle with more power at the same opening, more slip allowed, a higher anti-wheelie threshold and a later-acting sport ABS.
  • Off-road: a smooth, controllable throttle at low revs and minimum traction control.
Traction control can be switched off from the dashboard in every mode, and the rear ABS can be switched off in Off-road.

It looks where the rider cannot
A front camera and a rear radar watch the blind spot: when a vehicle enters it, the mirror lights up and the dashboard shows where it is. The front camera doubles as a DashCam, recording automatically in 1080p in one-minute clips on a memory card, with playback in the app.

The lighting is full LED, with automatic headlights, cornering lights from the dual fog lamps and self-cancelling indicators. Tyre pressure monitoring is standard, and all of it comes on all three versions.

A cockpit for long days
The 7-inch colour TFT is mounted upright, like a rally road-book. Speed and gear are shown in large figures, with a window the rider chooses for navigation, music or tyre pressures. The theme is light, dark or automatic with a light sensor, and when something needs attention the dashboard explains it in words, not only with a symbol, in English, Italian, Spanish, French or German.

Also on board: illuminated switchgear, cruise control, heated grips and seat with three levels each, a windscreen adjustable by hand and without tools (about 40 mm of travel), hand guards and USB charging.

Connected: the Morbidelli app

Every T802 carries an M-Link 4 connectivity unit with its own 4G SIM, GPS and a backup battery, linked to the Morbidelli app. The phone connects to the dashboard by Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.
  • Navigation on the dashboard. Scan the QR code on the TFT and Google turn-by-turn directions appear on the dashboard, even with the phone locked in a pocket. Full screen mirroring is also available.
  • Where is my bike. Live location, vehicle status (battery, fuel level, signal) and diagnostics of the engine, ABS and dashboard.
  • Anti-theft. When switched on in the app, the alarm warns the phone over 4G if the motorcycle is moved, at any distance, and the backup battery keeps tracking it if the main one is disconnected. The engine can be cut remotely from the app, only once the bike is below 20 km/h.
  • SOS. A button on the bike sends up to two chosen contacts a link with the rider's live location, through the bike's own connection, so the phone does not need to be there.
  • Every trip, kept. Route, distance, time and speed, with animated replay and live tracking to share for 24 hours. Without coverage, about a week of trips is stored and uploaded later.
  • Over-the-air updates for the connectivity unit.
The app itself is free. Connected functions need an active Morbidelli Connect Plan (Connectivity, Navigation or both, monthly or annual) and mobile coverage. The first year is included with the bike. Connected services launch first in Europe.

A new identity, built on contrast
Before the T802 had a name, it had a light. The full-LED headlight carries a signature of one vertical bar, two diagonal arms and three dots. Morbidelli turned it into an alphabet, the Triad (Triade in Italian), in which every character is a combination of those six elements. The Triad belongs to the T802 alone. It wrote the teaser campaign “A New Story Begins”, told in three chapters (Identity, The Beauty of Technique, Beyond the Language), and decoded the name of the motorcycle on the EICMA stage.

The whole motorcycle is built on contrast. Soft, sculpted painted surfaces, with smooth reflections in the tradition of classic Italian automotive design, sit next to sharp, technical parts where the work is done: the headlight, the air intakes, the subframe. Materials and finishes make that dialogue visible:
  • brushed aluminium on the front spoiler and the tank, where the light runs along it;
  • a tail with an aluminium rack in a grained finish, made to carry luggage;
  • metal finishes on the triple clamp, the handlebar, the calipers and the fork;
  • a magnesium-aluminium alloy for the bracket that holds the headlight and the dashboard, and for the windscreen adjustment mechanism.
A new, more refined colour palette marks the brand's new direction while honouring its heritage.
